Recently I closed my booth which is freeing up my time, sort of to do other things. One of the things I really needed to do is to paint the guest room and den. The den finally got painted. Now the big task is updating the accessories and some of the furniture. An easy fix is to update a mirror to a light and bright look.
Now the mirror really isn’t in my stash but it could have been if I had procrastinated. And I did use up some paint I had mixed up for another project. This month’s Craft Room DeStash Project didn’t cost me a dime since I had the mirror in the den and leftover paint. The Craft Room DeStash budget is up to $10 if we need to get something to complete the project.

I do enjoy updating mirrors and have done my fair shall such as a coastal style mirror and a more traditional looking mirror. What I decided to do with this little mirror is to paint it in a warm white. I just slopped it on.
The next color to slop on is a gray I used by putting a little bit of gray in a small amount of white. After painting it on I wiped it back in areas for the white to show through.
Once that was dry I went back over the mirror in a sloppy way with a cooler white.
Now the next thing I did was to wax it in white. I wasn’t really happy with the outcome and redid it in clear. Then I did another coat of the white wax and I liked it much better.
Originally the mirror was hung over the TV. But that is when we had a smaller TV. I decided to find a new home for it. It is in the bedroom for now. It was a good idea to update a mirror to a light and bright look. And I like the idea that I didn’t spend any money to do it.
