This is a table that my friend, Karen gave me. She started painting it a pretty gray. That is why it isn’t put together. It got a little beat up in the move so it did need to be painted over. That is why I decided to update a classic table from gray to white.
Now, this is a pretty easy update. It goes to show you how easy it is to update a piece of furniture you may have.
I wiped the table down and got to work on changing it from gray to white.
I considered doing a stencil of some sort but decided to keep the table very classic. Since I plan on selling the table it seems a traditional look may be easier to attract a buyer.
It did take a few coats to cover the table. After painting it I sanded the table to smooth it out. Then waxed it with a clear wax. Then I decided to wax over it with white wax. Personally, I don’t think it made any difference.
Karen also gave me two sets of knobs. I like the white ones with the black design, so on they went.
The table is a nice entryway table. Having the two drawers makes it a good place for keys. And the design of the table fits in a small space. Every so often I crave painting a classic looking table and this one was a pleasure to do. To update a classic table from gray to white changes the look for a change of pace. And it is for sale if you are interested.
