I was nominated for The Blogger Recognition Award by Mary of In the Boondocks blog fame. I first met Mary when she made a lovely comment on one of my posts. In turn I had to check out her blog and found she is a wonderful and creative lady living in Greece. I immediately started following her. In the Boondocks is filled with Mary’s creativity. She is very innovative and loves to recreate with found objects. I am very appreciative of Mary nominating me, Thank you Mary.
The Blogger Recognition Award
The Blogger Recognition Award is an award that was created by Eve Estelle, who creates on her blog, Edge of Night She decided to initiate this as a nomination/award to honor and celebrate bloggers from around the world. There are so many talented and creative people so blogging is a great way to share ideas ranging from raising children, cooking, home decorating, DIYing and any other subject matter of interest. So that tells you blogging is here to stay and offers a wealth of knowledge and creativity for anything you may be interested in.
So you can only imagine my surprise when Mary reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in participating. I said YES! I am so new to this and have such admiration and awe for all the people out there who have been doing this for any length of time. One who has not attempted this has no idea of the work involved. Not only do you work on projects or do research, there is the writing, photography, learning the inner workings of web sites, rules and regulations and outreach. The blogging community is a very warm and giving group so this activity is a part of it.
How I Got Started Blogging
When I first retired I was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my life. I started volunteering and then doing craft and sewing projects. I started reading blogs as inspiration. In the meantime my friend asked me to split the rent for a booth at a local indoor flea market so we could sell our creations. After all how many tables or benches can I fit in my house, right? I have had Shoppe No. 5 for over two years now and still love every minute of it. My friend decided to go in a different direction and my first thought was “Oh no what will I do?” I decided to take over the whole booth and quit thinking and dreaming about blogging and start doing it. I remembered Jenna of Rain on a Tin Roof had recently done a post on Launch Girls so I filled out the form and the rest as they say is history. Contacting Launch Girls to create the web site and teach me the ropes was a great decision.
Cindy of DiscoveringFranklin and Lionhearted Woman coached me and laid the groundwork. Lesley who writes the blog, Chaotically Creative with her mother, Denise listened to my vision and designed the perfect website. Jenna taught me the nuts and bolts of blogging. So not only do these ladies write successful blogs, they also created Launch Girls to help people like me with a dream or to grow an existing blog to be even better. I also look to Suzanne who writes The Painted Drawer and Danielle of Finding Silver Pennies as inspiration. Their posts are filled with beautiful projects. In my mind the common thread of all of these ladies have for me is I feel a connection to them even though I only know them through the email that pops into my inbox and reading about their adventures.

My Advice For New Bloggers
So I am a very new blogger. I have been doing this a little over two months, but I would advise anyone who is interested in blogging to reach out to those who know the workings of blogging. I believe there is a right way and a wrong way. Learn from the people who have been there and know how to go about it the right way. I know I go through my ups and downs and question my sanity for doing this at this time of my life, then I realize that this is what will keep me young and my mind engaged. The blogosphere is a fascinating world where friendships are created though a common love of creating and learning.
The list below are only a fraction of the bloggers who influenced me.
The Nominees Are
