Pickin day in my own backyard. Not long ago I went pickin in my own backyard. The subdivision where I live has a community garage sale twice a year. That would be spring and fall.
My first stop was at my neighbor’s house. She is a fantastic gardener and had some bromeliads for sale. I bought a bromeliad and I hope it survives my care. I think it may be a plant and forget kind of plant. We shall see.
From there I headed out and saw Graham who was repairing the fence on the corner. I had to stop and ask him for some wood. I got one piece of the fencing that I may work into a sign for Lisa who has given me a challenge. The other piece is the gate that had been painted an aqua, yes some of the houses where I live are very colorful. Then the gate was painted cream. With the hinges off it looks like the horizon at the beach and the place where the hinges were are lighthouses or maybe people lounging on the beach. It has to be a beach sign.
Onward, next stop didn’t have a whole lot but that is where I found the little rustic looking wood basket. Then I cruised by the house that usually has fantastic things, you know who this is Dani. She wasn’t set up so there is another house on the same street that also has good items.
I lucked out and found the sweet shabby chic looking candle sconces.
Then I took another look and saw a cute little cowboy picture. I can certainly see that in a young boy’s room. Or a little girl’s maybe?
I was on a mission and was not disappointed. Now I did make a few stops and didn’t find anything that I had to have but the final stop was a jackpot.
I found the rusty pelican and this romantic vase.
Pickin day in my own backyard resulted in seeing neighbors I have known and meeting new neighbors. I found nice things for Shoppe No. 5 to share. Plus got inspiration from an old run down fence. I call that a good pickin day.
