I have had this table in my bedroom patiently waiting for over 3 years for its makeover. Painting this table is all in the details. I wanted to do it justice. This table is so Florida with its palm tree detail. It certainly calls for a paint treatment to bring out the uniqueness.
Once I painted the traditional table in a classic look, I moved it to the bedroom. This table went to the garage. No turning back now. Given it is a Florida look the only paint selection is from my Dixie Belle Paint company stash. I wanted to get rid of the yellow and enhance the detail. What better color to use than Apricot for the main color and Flamingo for the detail.
I think the table is probably from the 60’s give or take. And has seen some wear and tear. Someone used yellow spray paint to update it at one time and it was OK. When I bought the table it had a small piece of glass on the top and it was not original. Lucky for me I found a curbside piece that fit.
The Apricot color went on smoothly, this paint does give good coverage. I did a little touch up here and there. Using an artist’s brush I painted the Flamingo color around the circle detail. I do think of furniture painting like a canvas.
To make the palm tree stand out the trunk was painted with the Flamingo. The palm fronds got a coat of the Apricot and Flamingo mixed together. The details of the tree truck were highlighted with the Metallic Copper Base Coat. The Metallic Copper Top Coat highlight the palm frond and coconuts.
The table still looked a little blah, the Metallic Copper Top Coat took care of that. It was painted on the wicker and the little detail on the legs.
This table screams poolside, Gator Hide was brushed on for protection from the weather. Painting this table is all in the details and I am thinking it is a success. Do you?
