My Trip To The Fancy Flea Market

This post is all about My Trip To The Fancy Flea Market.  Every year around this time there is a flea market called The Fancy Flea Market in Plant City, Florida. As some of you may know, I live on the West Coast of Florida.   The Fancy Flea Market is a fabulous event filled with creative vendors from all over. Michael, Sue and I hit the road early on Friday, well not real early, to go there and shop.

The Fancy Flea Market is on the fair grounds and man it was hot that day. It felt like June weather, not November but Sue and I are dedicated shoppers. When we saw the first booth we knew we were in for a treat and we were right.

South Shore Shabby Shack

We saw items from shabby chic, rustic looking pieces and everything inbetween and whaever creative people come up with.  The furniture was a mixture of vintage to mid century along with antiques.  There were handcrafted pieces made from found things such as old oil cans or pieces of what others see as junk but artists see as their medium.  I can tell you one thing, people who restore and revitalize found objects are truly artists.  They may not be using canvas and oil paints but they are creating treasures that will be appreciated for years to come.  And isn’t it special to have a unique item in your home? Just look at the paper roses in the picture below.  Absolutely gorgeous.

I tried to be organized when I took pictures but at the beginning I didn’t have a good plan so some of the pictures may not belong to the right shop. But believe me everything about this event is top notch. The quality of work and variety is out of this world.

We certainly enjoyed browsing around The Fancy Flea Market.  Sue even found a vintage table lamp that she was looking for so the adventure was a success.

Debra what a fun day, even if it was hot. I love going to flea markets. That’s one thing I really miss here in Greece, there aren’t many of them here. Your friend bought something, what about you, no shopping only playing photographer??

Welcome Friends!

Hi I’m Debra and I think I’ve finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up! This is quite an accomplishment since I’m not a teenager! From the time I was a little girl, I drew, painted, sewed and built furniture for my precious dolls, and I had great plans to be a commercial artist. I could get totally lost in the magic of creating. I followed my dream and when I was a teenager, I moved to the west coast of Florida and attended Ringling School of Art…but then…as often happens, life had different plans for me. Can you relate to life having other plans or getting in the way?
