When I made Santa Claus using a soda can I kept thinking he is missing something. Then it dawned on me, besides glasses he needs Mrs. Claus. That is when I decided to make Mrs. Claus from a soda can for my Thrifty Chicks project.
This month’s theme is Christmas Ornaments. I love it, don’t you?
I crushed the can to get Mrs. Claus body the same way as I did for Santa. When you crush the can, it is one of those things that you never know how it will look. But that is the fun of it.
And as I did for Santa, I covered the top of the can using painter’s tape and paper to protect it. But first, pull off the tab. It is used later on for her belt.
Her body was sprayed with red spray paint until fully covered. I left it for a few days to allow the paint to cure. When I got back to it, I painted sections with Mod Podge. And sprinkled red glitter on each section. This Mrs. Claus is going to be a glamorous Mrs. Claus.
Glue the wood button where the nose goes. Paint the opening on the top of can red. This is the inside of the mouth.
The next step is to paint the face in the skin tone of your choice. Then paint her cheekbones with pink craft paint.
When the paint is dry, glue the wiggle eyes on Mrs. Claus’ face. And be sure to fashion the glasses. Use the tacky glue on the edge of the can and place the glasses over her eyes.
Use a small piece of red ribbon for the hanger. Glue to the back of the head. For the hair use the cotton balls. I tore little pieces and glued them on top of her head. The hair will cover the edge of the ribbon.
We are almost done. The final step is to make a belt. At first, I was going to make an apron but let’s face it…Mrs. Claus is in her party dress. I don’t know about you but I would be done cooking dinner if I was in my party dress so who needs an apron? Just like I did for the Santa Claus belt I threaded the ribbon through the soda can tab. Cut the ribbon to size and glue around Mrs. Claus waist.
If you really like Santa, the Santa jar and Santa napkin rings are two other cute projects to check out. And that is how to make a glamorous Mrs. Claus from a soda can. Now Santa and Mrs. Claus are together on the Christmas tree. Aren’t they a cute couple? Check out the ornaments the other Thrifty Chicks created.
