I don’t really do anything for St Patrick’s Day. I am so bad that one year instead of making corned beef, I made chili because I needed to use the ground beef. That has never been lived down because everyone else makes corned beef and cabbage and I made St Paddy’s Day chili. So I decided just a little craft project for St Patrick’s Day is in order.
I’m telling you it took minutes to do this. I like to put holiday themed hand towels in the guest bath. And I have been planning on this project for ages and never got around to it. A while back I bought a bundle of white hand towels for the guest bath when there wasn’t a holiday coming up. I grabbed one and appliqued a shamrock the towel. Now that is one easy craft project, isn’t it?
I found a drawing of a shamrock and enlarged it to the size as shown and printed it out. Using my scissors for paper. I cut it out.
This is where my
hoarding err I mean thriftiness comes in handy. My friend gave me St Patrick’s Day material that the dog groomer cut into a kerchief. I knew exactly where it was which is as much as a surprise to me as it probably is to you. So into the wash it went, got it dried and ironed.
Pin the pattern on the fabric and cut out the shamrock. Place it on the towel and pin it. Then base it to the towel so when you sew around the edge it stays in place. Decide on the decorative stitch and sew around it.
You can always use a pretty embroidery stitch also, which I may do another day. And I can think of other variations on this theme and will more than likely do it but for now, this is just a little craft project for St Patrick’s Day. Do you think you will give this a try?
