It is always so exciting to see how paint can bring a piece back to life. How to refresh an old rusty school desk is one example. When Rust-Oleum was doing a promotion for a new product called Rust-Oleum Turbo Spray Paint I jumped into the challenge.
As you can see the desk was beyond charming. But the Turbo Spray took care of that. It is a new product. When I participated in the challenge the paint was only available in black or white.
The desk was taken apart and scrubbed with a wire brush. I wanted to get all if not most of the rust off. The parts that couldn’t be removed got taped up. I just wanted to spray the body of the desk. The paint has a wide spray pattern and goes on evenly.
As you can see I turned it every which way so the desk was fully covered.
The back and top for the desk got a different treatment. After a few minor repairs, I applied a white wash stain. I was worried the whitewash wouldn’t hold up because the desk is used by my front door as a plant stand. It has been a few months since I finished it and it is still looking good.
Every time I go in or out I can’t help be admire it. How to refresh an old rusty school desk with the white Turbo Spray was a long overdue project.
I am glad I was able to be a part of the challenge. Do you have an old rusty piece of furniture to repaint? See how I painted a wooden school desk here.
