Do you have a bucket like this one? There isn’t much to it. And even though it is painted gold it is rather plain. Why don’t I show you how to paint a bucket with farmhouse style. It is very easy to change the look from the fake gold to a farmhouse look.
But first, let me tell you about the Craft Room Destash Challenge. We are challenged to look around our craft room and create an item using what we have. We are allowed to spend up to $10 to complete the project. You will see all sorts of amazing ideas. The links are on the bottom.

As always I clean the piece because there is no telling what gets on something whether it is from a garage sale or has been waiting its turn for a makeover.
I decided to use white paint mixed with Poppie’s Furniture Paint Powder. When you add Poppie’s to latex paint it creates a chalk-like finish. The beauty is it is not as expensive as other brands.
For complete coverage paint the bucket two times with the white paint.
I was going to paint the handle white but at the last minute decided to use the black spray paint.
At first, I thought I could get away with taping the edge to protect the basket. The overspray got on the bucket so I ended up covering the whole bucket to protect it. Then I went back over the over-sprayed area with the white paint.
I always like to let the paint cure. Once it did I got out the Farmer’s Market stencil. I decided to only stencil “country fresh vegetables” on the bucket. The stencil was placed by the top. Rather than stenciling I drew the letters and filled them in.
Lightly sand the bucket after the paint dries. After a coat of clear wax, it got a coat of dark wax. This was to give it an aged look.
This is certainly an easy way on how to paint a bucket with farmhouse style. And for more farmhouse style see how I made the plate chargers from wreath rings and chicken wire.
