We all get catalogs in the mail. And every so often as we flip through the pages something will catch our eye. That is what happened to me. I decided how to DIY cute Santa napkin rings would be a fun little project.
Making customized napkin rings is one way to make your tablescape special. Some other ones I have made are the bunny napkin rings and napkin rings for fall.
I had a false start because I was trying to use up what I had. After a quick trip to the store to buy the red ribbon and fleece I got to work. I had already bought the velvet ribbon and buckles the day before.
The finished napkin ring is 7 inches. I started off by making the first one. Then I made the next three.
I found it easier to cut the red ribbon 7 inches. The black ribbon can be cut larger. Determine the middle of the black ribbon. Punch a hole in the middle of the ribbon. Thread the buckle through the ribbon. Insert the prong in the hole that was punched.
To find the middle of the red ribbon and to get a straight line fold it in half lengthwise. And on the short side. Iron it. Run a bead of tacky glue along the long fold. Carefully place the belt on the line of glue with the buckle in the middle.
Cut the fleece larger than the ribbon. It will be trimmed later. Sew all away around the red ribbon. Trim the fleece. I cut it ¾ inches on the bottom and ½ inch on the top. This is the time to trim the sides also.
The Velcro fasteners stick on. If you feel like they won’t stay you can sew it on or glue it. I am going to leave it as is for the time being. If I feel the fasteners won’t stay then I will decide what to do.
Once I got back from the store and figured out how to do the first napkin ring it went quickly. Roll the napkin and wrap the napkin ring around it. How to DIY cute Santa napkin rings is easy. And so cute. Don’t you think so?
