After the Christmas decorations were put away the table in the master bedroom looked so bland. I was so tempted to bring back the sweater pumpkins. But how goofy would that be? So I begin thinking about how to create faux snowballs from Styrofoam balls.
And believe it or not, it is so easy. The hardest part is arranging the snowballs on the little wooden plate I use as a tray.
I had been mulling it over for several days. But then I stopped at The Dollar Tree for something entirely different. I passed by the Styrofoam balls and I instantly knew how to make faux snowballs!
I couldn’t wait to get home and get started. Start by painting the balls with white craft paint. And you may ask why but the paint fills in the holes in the Styrofoam a little. I found it helpful to stick a toothpick in the Styrofoam balls as I worked on them and for drying.
I hope you don’t mind getting your hands dirty for this next step. Trying to use a plastic fork to apply the faux snow didn’t work. I gave up and scooped up the faux snow from the jar and patted it on the balls. Just pretend like you are making real snowballs.
After the faux snow is dry, brush Mod Podge on the ball and sprinkle with the crystal glitter.
Can you believe how to create faux snowballs from Styrofoam balls is so easy?
And here is a helpful tip. When I was trying to arrange the balls on the plate they kept rolling all over. I took toothpicks and stuck a snowball on one end and the other for some of them. It worked pretty well.
