As I am working my way through my stash I discovered two small easels with round mirrors. I needed a card so I was looking through the box and found a blank notecard. The picture on the card has the same colors as the easels. That is how to create a piece of artwork from a card came about.
This is another edition of our Monthly Craft Destash Challenge hosted by C’mon Get Crafty. Each month we are challenged to use up some craft supplies. If we need to buy something to complete the project we can spend up to $10.00. Last month I made a sweet little “to the moon and back” project.
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C’mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Now while the easels are cute and have great patina I am not really sure about the color. So I am taking a chance that they will sell as is. And as I said the card matches the easel perfectly so we’ll see…
The first thing I did was to spray paint the wood plaque and the back of the mirror. In the wrong color! Can you believe it? I wasn’t paying attention. Just a little setback. So I spray painted them in the right color. Now I am ready to finish up the project.
I found a can that I used as a template for the wood circle. Take the card and draw around the can. Carefully cut it out.
The next step is to glue the wood plaque to the back of the mirror. I did try the wood circle on the easel without the mirror and it worked. But the mirror is thinner and fit better. Plus I would have to come up with an idea to use the mirror since I am trying to Destash.
Apply Mod Podge to the wood plaque. Put the circle cut out on the wood plaque. I used the brayer to smooth the card on the plaque. Lightly sand the edge to smooth out the rough edges. I brushed on two coats on top, letting it dry in between.
Since there are two easels I’ll leave one as is. I will try to sell it as a set since it does make a cute vignette. It is nice to have a little decoration to fill a small spot, don’t you agree? Now let’s check out the rest of the projects my fellow crafty bloggers created.
