This pallet sign is the 5th in a series. You may remember the sign hanger made from a chair with a Harvest sign. Then for Christmas, the sign is a snowflake on one side, which can work for winter. And a Christmas tree on the other side. Valentine’s Day is commemorated with the LOVE sign. Now it is how to celebrate spring with a pallet sign.
Actually, the Spring sign is on the other side of the LOVE sign. So if you made the LOVE sign and did decide to make it you are half way there. If not you can go here to learn how to make the sign from the pallet board. It is a matter of cutting the boards to the size you want and use wood glue to glue the two boards together. When you are done with the design, drill a small pilot hole and screw the screw eyes in. Tie on the cord.
With this sign, I took a different path and found a pretty 3 spring cards that coordinate. The Cuddle Bug came to the rescue once again. You know when I bought it and it was years ago I did not think I would get my money’s worth but it has been a good investment. Just food for thought. I used the circle die and the flower die to cut the different size circles and flowers from the cards.
Now the saying from the card was cut out with scissors. I used a round coaster as a template and carefully cut around it.
Then have fun with it. Play with the pieces until you like the way it looks. Once you like the placemat use Mod Podge to adhere the pieces to the pallet boards. I brushed the Mod Podge entirely over the boards. Let it dry and brush more to make sure it really sticks.
Since I had already made the LOVE sign on the other side I already decided on the gold cord to use as the hanger. This is a versatile project as you can use it with the hanger or alone. Plus the hanger can be hung on the wall or used on a shelf. I hope you give this a try and let me know what you think about how to celebrate spring with a pallet sign.
