Have An Endless Summer With 13 DIY Coastal Projects

It is so hard to believe we are in the waning days of summer.  Oh, I know Fall isn’t official until September 22nd but don’t you start thinking of it at the beginning of the month?  I’m here to show you how to have an endless summer with 13 Fabulous DIY Coastal Projects.  It is hosted by Wendi who has the wonderful blog, H2OBungalow.

13 Coastal DIY Projects

The first project up is Wendi’s project.  She made a coastal tray from pine boards.  Then Wendi added the rope for the handles.  I don’t know about you but I love the combination of the wood and the rope.

Virginia blogs at Sweet Pea.  She takes us on a wonderful tour of her living room.  The room is filled with special treasures that have been in her family.  Virginia adds the coastal feel by incorporating old postcards with a beachy theme.  She also adds in starfish, coral, and shells.  I really love the DIY lanterns she made.  The lanterns are filled with shells for the summer tour.

I am sure you have heard of Victoria of Dazzled While Frazzled.  She always creates fantastic crafts for us to make.  This time around Victoria made a 10-minute coastal artwork from paint chips.  Are you intrigue?  Hop over and see how it is done.

Toni writes the blog called, Small Home Soul.  She makes lovely things for the home.  You can have the coastal feel in your home all year round with the coasters she updated.  They are painted in shades of blue that will remind you of the colors of the ocean.

That brings us to my contribution to our DIY Coastal Projects.  When I tried using Saltwash for the first time I painted a coffee table. My coastal vision for this thrift store table was inspired by my drives in the early morning over the coastal waterway as the sun is rising in the sky.  Before the sun gets really hot and intensified, the colors of the sky and water.  As the sun is peeking out from the clouds, waking up our world the colors are soft and subtle.

Sonja and Jane are sisters who craft together and write Sustain My Craft Habit.  Each summer they go to the cottage.  As they walk the beach they collect driftwood.  And what do they do with the driftwood?  This particular project they made a blanket ladder using the driftwood as the rungs of the ladder.  Now that is a very clever idea.  And a great way to remember your vacation.

Up To Date Interiors is written by Kathy.  Her husband is a Marine so they have traveled all over.  They have lived by many beaches so she is truly inspired by coastal finds.  Kathy shows us how to make a seashell door hanging using a piece of driftwood, twine, and shells.  It is a very lovely piece to hang in the house and fantasize about being on the beach during cold winters.

Maria has the blog, Simple Nature Décor Blog.  She made an elegant candle holder from oyster shells.  Perfect for a centerpiece on the table at a dinner party.  Or to add ambiance on the patio in the evening

Jessica is the creator of Petal and Ply.  She and the family took a beach vacation.   In the morning, as she and her daughter walked the beach, they collected coquina shells.  When the shells are open they look like little butterflies.  The color of the shells is so pretty.  She made a piece of artwork using the coquina.  Did you know you can also make coquina soup?

Lovely Etc by Carrie is the last blog in this roundup.  Carrie made a coastal mirror using scrap wood and a broken mirror.  If you only saw the finished project you would never have known it. The mirror brings a vision of a coastal town with buildings aged by the sea.

I have always wanted to try saltwash on a furniture piece. The finish on your coffee table does indeed look very coastal and it looks great in your outdoor space.

I live just miles from the beach and I forget about the beach in the cooler months. Adding some of your ides to my home decor could remind me of the beach in the winter too. Happy Summer, Kippi

Welcome Friends!

Hi I’m Debra and I think I’ve finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up! This is quite an accomplishment since I’m not a teenager! From the time I was a little girl, I drew, painted, sewed and built furniture for my precious dolls, and I had great plans to be a commercial artist. I could get totally lost in the magic of creating. I followed my dream and when I was a teenager, I moved to the west coast of Florida and attended Ringling School of Art…but then…as often happens, life had different plans for me. Can you relate to life having other plans or getting in the way?
