Now I had no intention of making Christmas Pillows until I read Lynne’s post who writes at My Family Thyme on making pillows from napkins. She inspired me to make some Christmas pillows. Now we know this isn’t a new idea but I looked at the pillows on my couch and love seat and they are red but I thought I need new ones. Don’t you get sick of the same old stuff? I sure do. But I decided to make a Christmas Pillow as easy as one, two, three using a pillow cover & a placemat.
So off to Home Goods, I went and bought some napkins. I also went to Ross, nothing. Marshall’s lured me in with gorgeous Kate Spade tea towels. On to Pier One because I love their stuff and I ended up with the reindeer napkin rings. I know nothing to do with pillows.
Final stop Kohls and there on the floor was a red placemat in the shape of a poinsettia. I picked it up since I hate to see that and as I was going to put it back on the shelf it hit me! Last year I bought two white pillow covers at Michaels.
I stenciled JOY on one but never did anything with the other one. Oh, I have ideas and for the longest time, it sat on the table waiting for me. Then it got moved to the closet, the idea put on hold.
When I got home I dug it out of the closet and I went to work to create this easy Christmas pillow.
Pin Poinsettia Placemat to pillow cover
Cut pieces of fusible iron on tape
Put a towel on top of the placemat, Slip tape under and iron.
Now if that isn’t a Christmas Pillow as easy as one, two, three, I don’t know what is? And isn’t it cute?
