First of all, a big huge thank you to Dixie Belle Paints for helping to make this post possible today. They provided the product used in this post. All ideas and opinions are my own. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
We all know all it takes is a little paint to update. Take this fancy little hook. It is ok. Nothing spectacular. I cleaned it up and put it in the booth because if it sold that would be fine. When I got the Dixie Belle Paints to try out I decided the hook could use a little updating.
For this project I chose the Flamingo as the base coat. It is a deep, rich creamy peachy pink orange. Or the color of a flamingo. I brushed it on and did not worry about complete coverage. I wasn’t going to worry if the original color showed through because the colors will all blend.
The next coat of paint in the Dixie Belle line I brushed on is called Apricot. It is a lighter shade that goes so well with the Flamingo. The paints have such a rich color intensity.
To calm it down I used the color called Drop Cloth. I think it is my favorite color of the paints I received. I lightly painted it on. A little bit of this paint goes a long way.
But then the piece De resistance is what I did next. There is a product that is called, Metallic Copper Base Coat. I swooshed it over the raised areas of the fancy little hook. Then I used the Metallic Copper Top Coat the same way. It really highlights the detailing.
Now not to do overkill I dabbed a little bit of the copper bronze glaze here and there which really intensified the details of the piece.
It is always so amazing to me how all it takes is a little paint to update practically anything. And check out the tile tin I updated also. I can’t wait to decide what to paint next.
