A few months ago I created a picture hanger from chair parts that can be placed on a table or hung on the wall. Then I made a Harvest sign and a reversible Christmas sign to go on it. Or you can forget the hanger and make the signs to hang. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so this is a way to make a quick Valentine’s Day sign from a pallet to hang directly on the wall or the hanger.
All you need is one board cut into two 12 inch pieces. Run a bead of wood glue along the long edge of one of the boards and put the two boards together. Use the clamps to make sure the boards don’t move.
Now I already did this when I created the hanger. I just made all of the signs. That being said I painted the Spring theme on the other side of this sign. That will be coming soon because it is totally different than the other signs I made.
This is so easy. Select a stencil in a font you like that is 4 inches long. I selected a very simple font but any one will work. Position the “L” in the upper left hand corner and using a pencil trace around it. Take the “O” and trace it in the upper right hand corner. Then “V” and “E” go underneath and draw around the letters.
Now you can use a stencil brush and stencil in with the paint. I prefer to actually paint the letters and fill in the small lines the stencils make. For some reason the pink paint seemed to call my name. But this will work in gold or red. Or how about copper?
Sand it down a little bit to give the sign some character. Now I didn’t use the copper paint but I did use the copper bronze glaze by Dixie Belle Paint Company.
Attach eye hooks to the top and for a little more glamor and glitz tie gold cording around them. This is the hanger to use on the one you made from an old chair or on a pretty hook.
And now you can celebrate Valentine’s Day with a pallet sign. And if you like the LOVE blocks you can see how I made them here.
