My friend asked me to join her and her family for dinner the other night. It was a kind of spur of the moment thing. I always try to bring something and thought what can I bring that is quick and easy that they will like. I needed to come up with an easy idea and that is how A Guide for Quick and Easy Hostess Gifts was born.
Yes, a bottle of wine is always appreciated but I wanted do to do something a little different.
I decided to make a cute little rustic planter and added yellow mums. I found the aluminum cup in the household section in Walmart along with the plant. When I got home I added small pebbles to the bottom of the cup and wrapped burlap wired ribbon around the pot to hide the edge. I knew the hostess likes the farmhouse and rustic look so I felt this would work and it did.
With that thought in mind, I asked my fellow bloggers what ideas they have when planning hostess gifts.
Debbie of Confessions of a Plate Addict makes fantastic lavender goats’ milk soap. What a lovely gift to give and to receive. This is something you can make and use yourself of course but also have in your gift drawer for a quick and easy hostess gift.
She also came up with a quick project, bring that bottle of wine and include chalkboard wine glasses! Perfect idea.
Speaking of lavender, how about Homemade Lavender Sugar Scrub. Not only does Susan of Loveofhome.net share her recipe but she also created labels for the jars. That really makes it special.
Meegan, who writes at What Meegan Makes created a lovely hostess gift using tulips. She said you can use other flowers as well. This is a gift that will last long after the party.
Tammy blogs at OneMoreTimeevents.com. She created a gorgeous pumpkin gift basket. This idea is perfect for this time of year. Who wouldn’t love to receive this hostess gift.
Now Mary of The Boondocks Blog fame created an almost no-sew fleece pillow. What a great idea for a last minute gift. The hostess will think you each time she lounges against it.
Another fabulous quick and easy hostess gift is from Marci. Her blog is Stone Cottage Adventures. She shows us how to start herbs from cuttings. Then she pots them and is always ready for the next event.
Lois writes at Walking on Sunshine. Her gift idea is just in time for the holiday season. It is a simmering potpourri but I think it can be enjoyed year round.
Now Kim’s idea is something that can be given to anyone who invites you to an impromptu unexpected event and you need a quick and easy hostess gift, a Book Page Magazine Hangar. Take a look at Exquisitely Unremarkable.
And then there is Wendi’s idea, a Birch Bark DIY Candle Holder. And the best part is she includes a resource in case you are like me and have no birch trees. You must check it out at H2OBungalow.
Maria’s idea for a quick and easy hostess gift are Eco Friendly Bird Seed Party Favors. You can learn what she does at Simple Nature Décor Blog. They are adorable.
So the next time you are invited to a get-together and need a hostess gift you can refer to this guide for quick and easy hostess gifts. And you know the holidays are just around the corner. These ideas are fantastic to have on hand. Or how about the work parties where you need to bring a little something. You just may want to make them all ahead of time and enjoy them yourself.
